Manfred Wittwer passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on January 6, 2006 at the age of 71 years. Fred is sadly missed by his loving wife Katie (nee Boehm), brother Dieter, sister Ingrid and sons, Andre (Diane) and Brian (Laurel). Opa will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Skyler, Danni and Rio.
Manfred was born on August 7 of 1934, in Berlin, Germany. After immigrating to Canada in 1954, he worked at Canada Packers until his retirement. When not fishing or gardening, Manfred could always be found teaching his children and grandchildren how to bake and play chess.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a visitation at South Calgary Funeral Centre on Thursday, January 12, 2006 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at South Calgary Funeral Centre, 12700 Macleod Trail South (corner of Macleod Trail and Lake Fraser Gate) on Friday, January 13, 2006 at 1:00 pm with Reverend Sean Smallwood of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church officiating. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Calgary Health Trust – Rockyview General Hospital Unit 59, 7007, 14th Street SW, Calgary, Alberta, T2V 1P9.
