

Peggy passed away peacefully on June 14, 2017 at Evanston Grand Village in Calgary at the age of 88 years. Born on April 27, 1929 in Winnipeg to Ed and Janet Murray, Peggy graduated from St. James Collegiate and business school. She married Ken Bratchell in Winnipeg, and they moved with their three children to Thunder Bay, Regina, and Calgary where Ken passed away in 1963. Peggy worked at Firestone, Higginbotham Customs Brokers, and the City of Calgary where she met her second husband, Jack Keats. Together they enjoyed travel, bowling, square dancing (88 Olympic opening ceremonies) and were long standing active members of the Confederation Park Senior Centre. Peggy loved to entertain and cook for friends and family.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents, her first husband Ken, and her sister Barbara Briest. She is survived by her husband Jack; sister June Hall of Grand Forks, BC; brother-in-law Steve Briest of California; daughters Sandra (Mike) Higgins of Idaho, Susan (Mike) Tynan; and son Jim Bratchell of Calgary. She is also survived by step daughters Liz (Bruce) Peterson of Riley, AB; and Kathy Keats; stepson Roger Keats (Marjan) of Calgary; grandchildren Ann (Randy) Noise-Ohl, Cory (Jane) Morgan, Jay (Lisa Granger) Morgan, Carey (Ken) Whittemore, Kathy (Remig) Soltys, and Ken Tynan; step grandchildren Michael Peterson, Coralee, and Richard Keats, as well as nine great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Peggy’s memory directly to the Lewy Body Dementia Association, (912 Killian Hill Road, S.W., Lilburn, GA 30047) to help advance research into this horrid disease.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
