Marie A Jacobson

February 24, 1937 – January 26, 2025
Obituary of Marie A Jacobson
IN THE CARE OF

South Calgary Funeral Centre and Crematorium

It is with much love that we mourn the loss of Marie “Rusty”Jacobson who passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta on January 26, 2025 at the age of 87 years. Rusty is lovingly remembered by her son; Denis (Beverly) Roberts, her daughters; Christina (Scott) Moore and Kathleen (Chris) Carpenter, and her grandchildren; Jason, Danielle, McKenna, James, Bradley and Laura. She will be missed by her spouse Dave Jacobson as well as her close friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, and the numerous neighborhood kids she took in over the years.

Rusty was born to Julian Benoit Reners and Georgette Louise Huguet in Blairmore AB. She moved to New Westminster BC, at an early age and then to Cranbrook BC, where she met her husband Dave. They eventually settled down in Winnipeg MB, where they raised their three children. Later in life Rusty moved to Canmore (“Paradise”) AB, to reside with her daughter and in time moved to Calgary to be closer to her granddaughters, where she lived happily until the end.

Rusty enjoyed the small things in life. She saw the beauty in everything and everyone. She was a brilliant artist, a talented seamstress and loved to swim. Rusty also enjoyed going camping with her family and having a cold beer by the fire, as well as her many trips back to Winnipeg to visit friends, family, and grandchildren. Rusty’s kindness and compassion will be dearly missed by all those who loved her.

Rusty worked hard as a telephone operator in Cranbrook and Winnipeg. She also proudly worked at the Canadian Grain Commission and eventually became a part-time cashier at Economart (now Superstore) so she could spend more time with her children.

In lieu of a service we ask that you have a beer and McChicken in Rusty’s memory and on her birthday, February 24, that you wear her favourite colour blue in her honour.

Given Rusty’s long battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) any memorial donations can be made to the MS Society of Canada at mscanada.ca.
