It is with great sadness that the family of Mark Wiencki share his passing. Mark was born in Coleman, in the Crow’s Nest Pass, the first of three sons to Paul and Verona Wiencki followed by Leonard and Fabian.
The family moved to Sunalta in Calgary when he was young where he attended Sacred Heart School and St. Mary’s Boy’s School. He continued his education in Toronto and Rochester, New York where he met Catherine Ann Reeves. They were married in 1970. Mark continued his education at the University of Calgary with a year off working for Miles for Millions which became the Arusha Centre.
Mark and Kate with their three sons Morris, Andrew and Laurie resided in The Last Homely House in the neighbourhood of Rosedale for 32 years retiring to East Village in 2016.
For 24 years Mark was the president and director of Cambyr Agencies which provided counselling and support services to children and families. Upon leaving social work, Mark coordinated rental facilities at historic Knox United Church.
Mark enjoyed fishing in SK, Alberta and BC. He had a keen interest in the history of dirigibles and held an extensive Sherlock Holmes collection as well as curating his personal art collection. He was an avid reader of mysteries. He took great enjoyment in finding the perfect gift for those he loved.
The joy of his life were his family which grew to include daughter in laws Corrine and Tammy, granddaughter Ashley Rose Dueck and two grandsons, Dax Wiencki and Mark Thomas Reeves who were both named after their ‘Papa’.
