Maud Purcell passed away peacefully in her sleep on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013 in Calgary, AB. Maud was born in Clive, AB on April 27, 1914 the fourth of eight children to Mary and John Fulthorp. She is lovingly remembered by sons Barry Baily (Elinore) and Roy Purcell (Bernadette); five grandchildren and six great grandchildren; sister Corol Smith; soul mate and niece Terry-Lee Skidmore (Larry) along with many nieces and nephews. Maud was predeceased by her parents, daughter Carole, brothers Fred, George and John and sisters Clare Valentine (Val), Victoria, Kory (Rita), and Mary (May). Maud lived most of her life in Edmonton and Calgary. She was a homemaker, postal clerk and a caregiver. Maud loved making up poems using her calligraphy skills, dabbling in oil painting and writing journals; unfortunately she could not continue because of macular degeneration. She was always positive, no matter how difficult the situation Maud looked on the bright side. She was selfless; her heart was as big as the moon. We will miss this wonderful, loving lady who always had time for everyone. In that same caring way, Maud has donated her remains to the University of Calgary, Faculty of Medicine, Body Donation Program. A Memorial Service will be held in her memory at a later date. In Maud’s memory, please donate to the University of Calgary Memorial Gifts at (403) 220-5854, 1-800-972-8632 or [email protected].
