It is with great sadness that the family of Merla Dawn Bush of Sun City West, AZ. announce her peaceful passing at Foothills, Alberta on her birthday May 19, 2021 at the age of 77 years after her ongoing battle with cancer, with energy, grace and dignity.
Merla is survived and sadly missed by her husband of 31 years, Earl Douglas Bush; her 3 daughters: Dawn Barclay (Craig) of Okotoks, AB, Lana Marceca (Jon) of White City, SK and Lara Stokes (Kody) of Foothills, AB; her 7 grandchildren Colton Barclay, Indianna Barclay, Trey Marceca, Brooke Marceca, Kyrstin Farmer (Trent), Kylie Stokes (Brad) and Ty Stokes; and her first great-grandchild Bennet Farmer. Merla is also survived by her sister Patsy Fullerton of Victoria, BC, her brother Kenneth Robertson (Patti) of St Hubert, QC, nephew David Fullerton (Karyn), nieces Sarah Shortt (Justin), Allison Lieskovsky Hasbrouck (Christopher), and her great-nieces and nephew Rachel Fullerton, Dean Hasbrouck and Leah Hasbrouck. All of whom she loved and touched deeply over the years! Merla was predeceased by her parents Merrell and Nelsie Robertson, her sister Suzanne Lieskovsky, aunts Del Robertson and Anne Clouston.
Merla was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, sister-in-law, stepmom and friend. We cannot say there has ever been anyone that has met Merla and not been affected by her love, generosity and compassion for all she knew. She loved spending time in her beautiful pool, deck and garden while enjoying conversations with friends and family near and far and always of course with her music on. We cannot forget the array of birds that visited her daily. Many neighbors and passersby's enjoyed her generosity of gifting her surplus of grapefruit, lemons and oranges from all her trees.
The family would like to send a special thank you to all the professional and personal care staff at Qualicare Calgary and Black Diamond Home Care for their wonderful help, care and compassion. You were all angels helping the family with her palliative care! We are all incredibly grateful for everything you have done, especially during this COVID pandemic.
A private ceremony was held in Calgary on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.
