Miklos was born in Barsonyos, Hungary and in his younger years worked on the family farm. He loved spending time with his grandparents, who he loved dearly. Later on he served in the Hungarian Army shorty before he immigrated to Canada in 1957 and settled in Calgary for his entire life. Miklos worked in the trades as a carpenter, first with Atco and then Lignum Interiors. He loved his work place and the people he worked with, his bosses Liz and Peter Gatzch, Kay and Robert Klaus, and many coworkers, including Frank Zagoda; he could never say enough. He was a hard worker, always giving 120% and was respected for his integrity. When he retired from Lignum Interiors they kept Miklos and Magdalena on the Christmas party list and for the next 20-years, they attended. He always looked forward to going every year. Miklos spent many years involved with the Hungarian Club and their many events; he was a member of the Royal Canadian legion (Kensington Branch), and the Kerby Centre. During retirement, Miklos became an avid fisherman and camper; he and Magdalena often went fishing and camping to so many of their favourite lakes, whether by themselves or with friends, they always looked forward to bringing home the big catch. If he wasn’t fishing you’d find Miklos babysitting or driving the grandkids back and forth to school, playing hospital for the sick ones, or at the school gym cheering on the grandkids at their many sporting events; he was always involved. Wine making and gardening were other hobbies he loved. Miklos loved to get out in the early spring and get pruning, mowing and planting the garden. He loved spending time outdoors just watering and sitting on his favourite stoop.
Miklos passed away peacefully with his family by his side; he will be sadly missed by all. Miklos’ family would like to thank the nurses and doctors for their care and attention. A private service was held on December 9, 2016 at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL.
