December 3, 1913 – October 18, 2012
Mildred was born on the family farm in Scotfield, Alberta. She was the eldest daughter of Louis and Haldus Abrahamson. She received her education at the Scotfield school and later resided in Calgary where she met and married James in 1937. They lived in Calgary, Drumheller, Stanmore, Youngstown and finally Cereal where she was first employed at A.B. Hughes General Store. The career she most loved was driving school bus covering Farming Valley and Lanfine. After retirement she continued to live in Cereal and eventually married Lloyd in 1980. Lloyd and Mildred lived their retirement years in Oyen Extendicare where they received incredible loving care from the staff. Everything Mildred did in life was done with devotion and passion. She placed great energy and enthusiasm into her crafts including making jewellery from sea shells, handpainted aprons and plaques, embroidery, Artex, crocheted hand towels and collecting salt and pepper shakers. Her three great loves were bingo, selling raffle tickets and making shortbread. She was a lifetime devoted care provider to seniors and the less fortunate in the Cereal community. There was always a spot at her table for those who were disadvantaged in any sense. Her love of children and her laughter will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched. Mildred is survived by her son Bill Taylor of Calgary; granddaughters Shareen St. Louis, Shawndra Zimmer and Erin Thomas; sister Agnes Bradford and eight great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband James Taylor in 1972 and her second husband Lloyd Palmer in 2010; sisters Myrtle Nudd and Florence Kernick; brothers Roy and Arthur Abrahamson. Pastor Brian Cooper will officiate at the funeral services where family and friends will be invited to share their memories of Mildred. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, October 26th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
