Muriel graduated as a Registered Nurse, and then, after brief stints in Saskatchewan and BC, she worked in Calgary at the Holy Cross in the Nursery and Maternity units where hundreds of babies’ first sight was Muriel’s infectious smile! Having instilled in her sons and grandchildren her unique humour, the family had many laughs with her right up until her last moments. After an early retirement, her hours were filled with family, friends and her passion of watching sports. Muriel’s strong independent spirit, quick wit, and love of family will be sadly missed. “How do you say goodbye to your best friend?!”
She was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, as the proud daughter of Laurie and Margaret Cantalope. Muriel is survived, and lovingly remembered by her 3 sons, Bryan Ede (Pat), Scott Ede, and Mitch Ede (Corinna Deyenberg); her 5 grandchildren, Caitlin Ede, Megan Ede (Dylan Ruby), Carolyn Ede (Brent Lalonde), Jessica Ede, and David Ede (Ali Barrett); her much loved new great grandson, Maddox Ruby; and her 2 sisters, Teresa MacIsaac, and Blanche Botham. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters Lorraine (Candy) Wise, and Flo O’Neill; brothers-in-law Bernard MacIsaac, Glen Botham, Tom Wise, and Earl O’Neill. Muriel will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and caregivers.
Her family extends their special thanks to her wonderful care team and friends at Agecare Midnapore, especially including Dr. C. Hoggard.
At Muriel’s request there will be no funeral service, so the family asks that her friends and loved ones celebrate her life in their own way. A private family event will be held in 2020.
