

RYDER - Norman StanleyJanuary 24, 1924 – November 10, 2009It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Norman Stanley Ryder at the Foothills Hospital after a lengthy struggle with his health. Norm is survived by his wife Lorell and her family, by his sons David (Marilynn) of Jaffrey, BC, Darryl (Linda) of Calgary, Dane (Mona) of Calgary, by his beloved grandchildren Kerri (Francis) of Ottawa, Tyrel (Jen) of Fernie, Brendan and Amy both of Calgary, sister-in-laws Ruth Ballah of Halifax and Lenore Swan of Oregon.Norm was born in Calgary and raised both here and in Vancouver. He served in the Canadian Navy during WWII and married Myrtle Swan in 1945 in London, England. Norm, Myrtle and sons lived in Sydney, NS and then moved back to Calgary in 1962. Norm drove Calgary City Transit buses and drove long distance trucks. He also drove cement trucks with Burnco and Revelstoke Redi-mix. Norm was predeceased by his wife Myrtle, brother Alvin and his parents.If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Centennial Branch 295, 9202 Horton Road SW, Calgary, AB, T2V 2X4.
