Patricia Justine Leibel

September 6, 1953April 9, 2012

Pat Leibel, of Kelowna, BC, passed away suddenly in her sleep Monday, April 9, 2012 at home after a lengthy battle with chronic TMJ pain. She was 58 years old.

Born in Port Arthur Ontario, September 6, 1953, to John and Ida Hale, Pat and her family moved to Hinton, Alberta in 1955 where she attended school graduating from high school in 1970. Pat was an excellent student and compassionate person; she received her Registered Nurse certification in 1972 at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. While in training at the Misericordia, Pat met a young handsome athletic man named Len in 1971 and they married on August 9, 1975. Pat went on to work as an RN at the Misericordia, Bonnyville and Cold Lake Hospitals before retiring in 1986 due to persistent TMJ problems.

Pat then became a loving stay at home mom organizing the family affairs and raising her children: Karen and Kevin guiding them through high school and university. Pat and her husband Len moved to Kelowna in 2007 where they planned to retire and enjoy all the amenities of the Okanagan. She was an avid swimmer, a voracious reader, thoroughly enjoyed NASCAR racing and cheering for her beloved Edmonton Eskimos football team. She loved chatting with people and offering her nursing skills and advice to other less fortunate people in need.

Pat is survived by her husband, Len, her daughter Karen and her husband Rob, her grandchildren Lucy and Jack, her son Kevin, her brother Rod and wife Elaine, and nephews Pat and Dan Matheson and numerous extended family members.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 27th, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the South Calgary Funeral Centre located at 12700 McLeod Trail S.W., Calgary, AB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to their local pain clinic. Arrangements entrusted to First Memorial Funeral Services, Kelowna, BC (250)762-2299

Dear Leonard and family,

It is with great saddness when I heard from my sister Elaine that Pat passed away.

Although I never did meet her, and we have not seen each other in years, it is still very sad to hear when this happens.

My most sincerest condolances to you, your children and grandchildren.

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Take great care!
