Pat was born and raised in Bankview in southwest Calgary while attending and playing football for St. Mary’s High School when it was still an all boys’ school. He married his high school sweetheart, Diane, and raised four children in Calgary. Pat worked for Home Oil Company in the early 1960s and 70s and continued his career in the Oil and Gas Industry through the better part of his working life. After retirement Pat and Diane travelled to various places in Europe, California, Alaska, and the Caribbean.
Pat had a passion for classic cars, enjoyed working in his woodshop, listening to country music, cheering on the Calgary Flames and Stampeders, dancing with his sweetheart, spending time with his buddies at the Legion but most of all, he loved sharing his time with his grandchildren.
Pat took great pleasure in teaching his many skills to his grandchildren and attending choir concerts, hockey, soccer and baseball games, as well as numerous other events that his grandchildren participated in. He was a strong supporter of higher education and encouraged his children and grandchildren to continue onto post-secondary education.
Pat will be missed by his loving wife of 59 years; his children Donna Andrews (Greg), Jill Louie (Perry), Paul (Denise), Tim (Kelly); and his grandchildren, Kristen, Brett, Grace, Max, Josie, Jake, Alex and Samantha. He is also survived by his brother Sandy (Linda) and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Lillian, brother Joseph (Jigger) and grandson Hayden.
We are grateful to the health care workers at the Southwood Care Centre, Intensive Palliative Care Unit 47 at the Foothills Hospital, and AHS Palliative Home Care for their care and assistance with Pat.
Following Pat’s wishes, a private celebration of Pat's life will be shared by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated.
