Raymond Sydney Arthur

Raymond Sydney Arthur, 83, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 30, 2017. He leaves his loving wife of 56 years, Mona (nee Beuselinck) Arthur; his son Douglas (Leah) Arthur; his daughter Pamela (Tim) Winter; five grandchildren Ashley Winter, Braden Winter, Amanda Winter, Laura Arthur, and Jaimee Arthur; his sister Lucille (Stuart) Best; his brother Charles (Helene) Arthur; and sister-in-law Betty Arthur. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends. He was predeceased by his brother John Arthur, and his sister Irene (Vern) Lewis.

Born and raised in Calgary, the son of Reginald and Jessie (nee Hayes) Arthur, he was a lifelong resident of Calgary and proud family man. After serving with the Army as a Teletypist for 4 years, Ray was a talented bartender for 35 years. He not only took pride in his work, but truly relished the friends he made during this time. Over the years, Ray and Mona loved to go bowling and at one time won a bowling championship. Ray had a passion for animals and had many pet dogs, including Muffy who was his best friend. Ray loved golf, billiards, dancing and the outdoors and enjoyed many trips to the Shuswap with family.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 7, 2017 in Springbank with close family and friends.
