Richard was predeceased by his mother Ruth Elizabeth Campbell and his father Raymond Shiels.
Richard was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on February 10, 1953. Growing up, he enjoyed tennis, skiing, golfing and traveling with his mom. He dreamed of becoming a photographer and always had his camera in hand at family gatherings and while traveling. During his life, Richard worked at a camera shop, the post-office, and eventually landed a 40 year long career with HandiBus (later Access Calgary). He always put his family first and was a dedicated partner, father, and grandfather. His favourite place to be was outside in nature and his favourite time of year was summer. He loved tending to his garden, enjoying his backyard, and camping at Sundance Lodges in Kananaskis. Richard loved dogs and especially cherished his beagles. Richard will be fondly remembered for his laid back spirit and playful sense of humour.
