Robert John Johnston passed away peacefully at the Intercare Southwood Hospice on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the age of 92 years. Robert is survived by his lovely bride of 66 years Lois Arlene Johnston. They were happily married and had two children Brian and Roberta; and four grandchildren Sara, Samantha, Jamie, and Melanie. He is also survived by his sister Audrey, and daughter-in-law Monet. Robert was predeceased by his son Brian, his son-in-law Mike, his brother Stuart, and parents Melvin and Rose.
Robert needed written permission from his parents in order to join the Canadian Navy during WWII at the age of 17. After the War he began a lifelong obsession with golf and made many, many special friends. He worked in the broadcast industry for his entire career and lived life happily.
Respecting Robert’s wishes no service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Robert’s memory directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, (100, 119 14 Street NW, Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6).
