Born in Medicine Hat in 1927, he eventually moved to Calgary and followed in his fathers’ footsteps and joined CP Rail where he worked for 43 years. He met and fell head over heels with his future wife, Pearl Joan (nee Lloyd). They married in 1957 and began raising their family. Somehow on a modest income, he and our Mom were able to make every Christmas amazing with presents stacked through half the house. Dad spent days decorating the house each December and left us all with amazing memories.
While teaching his children values and manners, he also instilled respect, treating others with kindness, standing up for those less fortunate, and working hard to earn a living.
Robert will be lovingly missed and always remembered by his beautiful wife of 62 years, Pearl “Joan”; his children Rob (Sheila), Jim, Corinne; Step-children Carol (Bob), and Chuck (Addie). He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren and one more on the way!
He was predeceased by his father Kingsley, born in Wales, and his mother Esther (nee Erikson), born in the North Dakota USA, his brother Jerry and sister Ione.
He will be sadly missed and never forgotten after living a full and joyous life. Our Dad was surrounded by his family and his two sons were holding him for his final breath. You had our backs growing up, now we have yours Dad. We all love you so much!
The family would like to thank all the Doctors, Nurses and staff at the South Health Campus for their compassionate care during the past months. At the wishes of our Dad, a private family celebration will be held at a later date.
