You came into this world on September 29, 1943 and left it, left us, exactly 76 years later. You left us way too soon, way too fast, with so many things still to say, to do and places to go.
Ron will be deeply missed by his daughters Joanne (Brian P), Kelly (Brian W) and Colette; step-daughter Carrie (Randy); grandchildren Dillon, Jessica, Elise, Christine, Daniel, Laura, Shaela and Brett; great-grandchildren Pax and Heath; partners Eleanor and Deborah; brothers Bob (Sharon), Gerry (Sherrin) along with aunt Denise, uncles Fernie and Roger, many nieces, nephews and adored friends, with a sincere thanks to close family friend Heather for her support and friendship.
Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, the youngest of 4 children, the family moved to Winnipeg when Ron was a young child and where he would spend the better part of his life. He began his accomplished career in the building industry after graduating from Red River Community College in the 1960’s working closely with numerous architects, engineers, developers, building professionals and many trades. Ron’s broad range of skills in the industry kept him passionate about his work and always looking forward to the demands that new building projects brought to the table. He enjoyed the excitement, learning, construction and design challenges. His knowledge, discipline, ability to carry out demanding projects and his meticulous attention to detail were all a part of the respected businessman Ron was.
He was passionate about his career and it served him well but when he finally embraced retirement it soon led him back to Calgary, a place that was always close to his heart, to enjoy more quality time with his family. Since his return to Calgary in 2015, he enjoyed picking up on his love of snooker, winning a few city titles and a provincial gold. Ron loved being outside, whether out on a beach soaking up the sun, getting in a round of golf on a sunny afternoon or puttering around the house and yard. He was an amazing handyman always fixing or building something, and when he was done around his own house he was the first to jump in to help family and friends with yard planning and construction projects. But his greatest passion was doing whatever it was that allowed him to spend time with the people he loved; day trips around Alberta, a night out at the movies, listening to live music, hanging out at the mall while the girls shopped, and his favorite of all were the family dinners and game nights.
Dad, Papa, Ron, Ronnie, forever you will live in our hearts, our minds and in our stories, never to be forgotten.
Nothing is really lost as long as you remember it.
