My friend Ron
 Our motorcycle trip to Mexico and back in the late 70's is a memory I have always remembered and think about often.  Such a great time and a great traveling partner

Ron and I worked together for a few years in the Revelstoke office of EBA Engineering. He was a kind and gentle soul, and he brought his calm and sensible nature and his quiet sense of humour with him every day to work. Ron was always ready with a logical and practical solution for any of our day-to-day challenges. It was interesting to discover that Ron liked motorcycles too and, when JP and I started a family and I retired from motorcycling, he bought my Kawasaki GPZ 305 for the price of its nearly-new Pirelli tires. It was a sweet little ride, light and responsive, with great gas mileage, but the air-cooled engine seemed to prefer warm-weather trips.  I wondered a little bit if he might be buying the bike as a favour to me, so I hoped to make it a good deal for him. Shortly after that, Ron headed out on a motorcycle trip to Belize, but he thought he'd better save the GPZ for a later trip, once he was familiar with its quirks. He must have had some enjoyable hours tinkering with it on his return, and it was nice to read how much he still liked working with his hands all these years later. It seems to me that Ron is gone much too soon, and he will be greatly missed. To Jason, Donna, and the rest of your extended families, I wish all of you much strength in this sad time.

I worked with Ron at EBA Engineering for quite a few years, couldn't ask for a nicer co-worker and friend.  Ron was always just a really nice  and kind man. I am so sorry.

I have known Ron for over 25 years.  We worked together at EBA Engineering and then together in an office with our own separate consulting companies.  He was a great friend.  Afew moments to share - the pig roast the Tyler wrote about stands out.  Another time, when Ron worked in Revelstoke for EBA, we spent a long day in the field and went back to his place for supper.  I don't know if it was him, or his son Jason that ordered the pizzas, but they had anchovies on them - compare this to sucking on a salt lick.... I went hungry that night !!!  When in our two offices in Kelowna, he went across the hall to our other office to grab a coffee.  He came back laughing after seeing another employee, Greg, plunking away on his computer using one finger - his index finger on his right hand.  Ron quipped on how slow he was typing.  After afew minutes, I looked over at Ron, and he was plunking away on his computer keyboard using his two index fingers !!!  Had to laugh to myself.  Several years ago, Ron came into the office on a Monday morning and we asked each other what we had done over the weekend.  He said, oh, I was in Calgary getting married.  This was a shock to all of us in the office, as he had never mentioned this at all (typical low key Ron).  However, after that weekend, he had more of a bounce in his step and a bigger smile on his face.  I will miss you Ron.  Cheers, Albert

I am ever grateful for the opportunity Ron provided me when he hired me on to work with him, and subsequently provided me an opportunity to take over his company when he retired. His patience, generosity, kindness, and knowledge is something I will forever hold dear. Moments seared in my memory of trying to keep up with him as he scrambled up the steepest slopes on jobsites, and times in the office sharing a funny news story are something I can never forget. 

One story I heard from Ron, Albert, Chris, and Greg was a time in 2009, when they were holding a pig roast during the annual fishing trip. The roasting motor broke and Ron spent quite a bit of time cranking the spit by hand with a small wrench. Albert just sent this photo to me to share here of the end result. Thank you Albert.
