Roy Joseph Stepheson passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the age of 80 years. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife Odell, four children; Darcy (Karylynn), Pamela, Derrick, Cassie (David); as well as by his six grandchildren Amalie, Silverius, Bradley, Kristina, Morgan and Sydney. Roy was born July 18, 1932 and raised along with his five siblings by his parents Joseph and Amalie on the family farm near Bentley, Alberta until his marriage to Odell in 1955. Roy’s early career had the family living in various places around Alberta, British Columbia and briefly Nova Scotia, but they ultimately settled in Calgary where he currently resided. His career in the engineering field included working with the Department of Highways and RM Parsons, until his retirement from WA Stephenson. With WA Stephenson he proudly worked on such projects as the 1988 Olympic facilities in Calgary and the Confederation Bridge from New Brunswick to Prince Edward Island. In keeping with Roy’s wishes no funeral or memorial service will be held. A private family interment will take place at the family cemetery near Bentley, Alberta at a later date. Roy’s favourite hobby was fishing, therefore the family has requested that in lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Roy’s memory to the Alberta Fish and Game Association.
