Roy passed away suddenly from a stroke in Calgary, AB on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the age of 78 years.
He is survived by his wife, Sonia; his sons Brian, Brent and Lance as well as eight loving grandchildren. He was also survived by his brother Elmer Wik, and sisters Sonia Kennedy and Lila Pearce. Roy was born in Claresholm, AB, raised in Huxley, Alberta and resided in Calgary, Alberta, Burnaby, BC, and Oakville, Ontario. He began his working career in 1946 at BA Oil where he spent 16 years. Roy also worked for Trimac and Jefferson Lake Petrochemicals in the 1960s. In 1970, he joined Procor (Railcar), then transferred to Procor (Underground Petrochemical Storage) and completed his career as President of Procor (Railcar) Canada prior to his retirement in 2003. Roy and Sonia were married for almost 55 years. They enjoyed travel, watching and playing various sports and raising their children. They also took great pleasure in watching their grandchildren grow. He was an avid golfer and salt water fisherman. Roy will be missed by family and friends.
