Russ was born on July 14, 1954 in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was the eldest son to Norman and Shirley Emerson (Strachan).
After learning to be a great salesman with in the vacuum industry, Russ turned his sights to Insurance and Investments. He worked his way up to VP of Western Canada for Transamerica Life, a position he loved and was highly respected.
Learning to play guitar at a young age Russ was always in bands he spent many years entertaining throughout Calgary with Blue Rhino.
Russ had a great love for travel, cooking and entertaining family and friends. He cherished sitting around the dinner table with his wife and 5 children.
Russell is survived by his wife, Kim Emerson (Bech), children; Jordan Emerson, Sean Emerson (Alexis Birks), Nicole Emerson, Ashley Bech McCord (Joel), Riley Bech (Monique Hinds), his brother Wesley Emerson (currently residing in Mexico), and three granddaughters, Adalynn, Janaye, and Amaleigh McCord, as well as his mother-in-law Pearl Blomfield and brother-in-law Joe Montgomery.
Russell will be laid to rest at a future date, not yet decided. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society at https://www.cancer.ca.
