She always loved her home and will be greatly missed by her husband Charlie, daughter Jennifer (Wayne Hewgill), son Tom, and grandchildren Russ and Shannon. Ruth was predeceased by her brother, Robert Foster on June 4, 2013. Ruth had an enduring interest in needlecrafts, completing many projects throughout her life. She was a lifetime member of the Alberta Handicrafts Guild. In addition, Ruth had a strong interest in family history and heirlooms, and was very proud of her doll and teddy bear collections. She also enjoyed many years of travel during Charlie’s retirement years. Special thanks to the AHS Home Care Team and especially Qualicare and their care workers – their kindness and skills allowed Ruth to spend her last days at home. Ruth loved her African Violets; however in lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Calgary, 201, 222 - 58 Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB T2H 2S3, (www.alzheimercalgary.ca) or the Canadian Diabetes Association, 1400-522 University Ave., Toronto ON M5G 2R5, (www.diabetes.ca).
A Memorial Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
