First and foremost, Sandi was a grandmother, mother, wife, sister, aunty (aunty sandy with the candy) and a friend. She loved to cook and was often found in the kitchen whipping up all types of delicious meals. Many will have fond memories of being one of the lucky ones to be invited to her dinner table or enjoy an informal meal she tossed together to bring to horseshoes to feed her fellow players on a Sunday afternoon. She had the gift of the gab and could make anyone feel welcome wherever she went; she believed in 7 degrees of separation and often found a connection among strangers. She loved to travel, read books, play cards, entertain, play with flowers, drink a cold one (only blue mountains) and be with family and friends. She grew up in Calgary, Alberta but considered Seymour Arm her second home and one of her favorite places to be. She may have been a small woman but had the biggest heart anyone could have; she loved all her friends and family whole heartedly. She always said, “you’ll miss me when I’m gone” I’m sure I can speak for everyone when I say you were more than right; we all miss you. May you be in heaven looking out for all of us down here.
Sandi is survived by her husband Kelly, son Jake, daughter Zoe, grandson Max, sisters Gale, Dale, and Donna, brother Lorne, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and outlaws as she would put it. Sandi is predeceased by her father Cecil “Smitty” Smith, her mother Jean Smith and brother Cecil Smith Jr.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a Memorial Service at Fosters Garden Chapel 3220 – 4th Street NW, Calgary, Alberta on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 2:00pm.
