Sharon Louise Cathers passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at the age of 71 years. Sharon is lovingly remembered by her husband Keith Cathers; her children Shelley Zimmermann (Gord), Clint Cathers (Cheryl); grandchildren Kyle Zimmerman (Melissa), Carley MacDonald (Jeff), Kayla Swinton (Justin), Tyler Cathers (Samantha); five great-grandchildren; her siblings Garnet Undershute (Audrey), Sandra Bennett (Wilf); as well as many of her family and friends who loved her.
Sharon was born in Eston, Saskatchewan on July 28, 1944, and married Keith on October 28, 1961 in Melfort, Saskatchewan, where they began their family before settling in Calgary, Alberta. She enjoyed her career at King Tower, where she became friends with many of the residents and staff. Sharon’s greatest joy was her family, and lifelong friendships that she had made. She was also known for her incredible culinary skills, knitting and compassionate nature. She loved to go camping, and travelled to several countries around the world with her husband and friends. Sharon is described as the glue that held her family together, and the shining light in all of our lives; she will be missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Sharon’s memory directly to The Lung Association, Alberta & NWT, (P.O. Box 4500, Station South, Edmonton, AB T6E 6K2). A private memorial will be held at a later date.
