Fay was born on November 10, 1935 in Hoy San, Tham Seh, Nam Jap, China.
She married at the age of 19 in Hong Kong before immigrating to Calgary, Alberta with her new husband, Harvey. Fay brought with her not only hopes and dreams of a new life in Canada, but also an incredible work ethic and a strong drive to succeed through hard work and sacrifice. Fay worked as a seamstress and later supported her husband’s restaurant business. She and her husband both worked tirelessly, saving and investing, building a family together, and diligently laying the foundation for success at the “Gold Mountain.” With only an eighth-grade education, Fay forged a remarkable life through sharp intellect, resilience, and an unyielding determination to succeed. Earned through many years of perseverance, she and her husband built a successful family legacy and are beloved by many in their community. Fay and Harvey recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary, a remarkable milestone in their life journey together.
However, being steadfast in her path to prosperity didn’t stop Fay from enjoying life. She and Harvey traveled to the U.S., Asia and Europe many times with family and friends. And at home, she found joy in the small things, like gardening and binge-watching her favorite Chinese TV shows. Above all, Fay always put her family first, making her husband, children and grandchildren her top priority. She was devoted to preparing huge amounts of homemade dim sum and Chinese dishes, ensuring her family was always well fed. Watching her children and grandchildren grow and succeed brought her immense pride and joy and she treasured every moment spent surrounded by family. Her passing leaves an enormous void, but Fay was blessed to live a long, fulfilling life and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
