Sigrid Elizabeth Jones, affectionately known as Siggy, or Oma, passed away suddenly at home on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the age of 71. She will be deeply missed by her 4 Sibling’s in Germany, sons’ Michael and Christopher; her daughter-in-law, Nicole; her beloved grandchildren, Jada and Cruz; and a large, loving extended family in Germany.
Raised in Lausheim, a village in Germany near the Swiss border and the Black Forest region. Growing up on a farm, she developed a strong work ethic and care for others early on. She shared a close bond living with her aunt and grandparents. As a young adult, her adventurous spirit led her to London, England, to work as an au pair, which is where she was introduced to Roger Jones.
Together, Roger and Sigrid traveled adventurously by land and boat from Europe through the Middle East and Asia, eventually working in Australia. They later immigrated to Eastern Canada before finally making Calgary their home to start a family. Sigrid built a dedicated career as an esthetician, a profession that reflected her caring nature and hard work. She cared for her clients, most of them became dear friends, and she cherished her long-term COOP babysitter club friendships. Navigating the many obstacles of being a single mother, she successfully and proudly raised two gentlemen.
Sigrid will be forever remembered for her giving heart, her work ethic, her deep love for her family, her sacrifice, and her schnitzel.
