Stewart was born in Calgary September 28, 1942, was raised, and resided in the Beltline and in the Rosedale community in Calgary for much of his life before purchasing and moving to a villa in Scenic Acres for most of his retirement years.
Stewart’s love and passion for motorcycles started at the age of 14, when he bought his scooter. From then on he owned several brands of motorcycles, buying his first Harley in 1995. From that day on Stewart was a true Harley lover and proud member of HOG (Bow Valley Chapter) for many years.
Stewart began his working years with Bluebottle Bottling. From there he decided to be a tradesman and became a Sheetmetal Mechanic. Stewart plied his trade for 40 plus years with several different Sheetmetal companies before starting his own company, Rosedale Sheetmetal, which he operated until his retirement.
Retiring at the age of 60, Stew, as he was known to his friends, enjoyed 15 plus years of retirement, purchasing a home at Mesa Shadows in Mesa, Arizona. He spent the winters enjoying sunshine, golf, watching his beloved Flames on television and spending time with his dear friends in the community.
Stew enjoyed every part of his life, he loved to travelling, fly fishing and riding his Harley. He rode in several rallies and charities including annual participation in the Ride for Sight and Teddy Bear Ride, among others. Stew and his son Ron rode to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in 2000 and Bike Week at Daytona Beach in 2003, just to name a couple of very memorable trips. In his younger years, Stew enjoyed partying and having cold ones with his fellow riders and friends and decided he had consumed a lifetime worth around the age of 40 and hung up the bottle opener for good. He also joked, he used to drink enough Old Vienna beer that after he quit, they went out of business.
Stew dearly loved his 2 children, Patti and Ron.
He met and became friends with a lot of very nice people along his journey in life and made a lasting impression on everyone he met right up until his final days at Rosedale Hospice. Stew’s endless humor, laughs and never-ending teasing was a strong trademark of his character.
Stewart was diagnosed with cancer in early July 2021. He was given only 8 to 9 weeks to survive, however he had a strong will to live and wasn’t going to let it take him down that quickly. The first 6 months were good, the last couple were very difficult. He fought courageously, stayed positive and retained his wonderful spirit and personality till final days.
Stewart is lovingly remembered by his daughter Patti Nichols (Tim Tinsley); son Ron Farrow (Lonni Henry); 6 grandchildren, Stephanie, Darren (Shannon), Sheldon, Anthony (Amy), Nicholas, Kallyn (Brett) and one great grandchild Jacoby, Nieces Cindy (Shane) Zacharias and Leah Farrow, Nephew Greg Turnbull (Sue Williams). Stewart was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Josephine Farrow (Pat & Jo), brother Joseph Farrow, sister Patricia Thiessen and granddaughter Courtney Nichols.
A special heartfelt thank you from Stewart and his family to the Staff and management of the Rosedale Hospice who made his last month incredibly special and comfortable. It truly became his final home and wonderfully was in the neighborhood he called home for most of his life.
