Thelma Smith passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the age of 89 years. She was born on December 31st, 1932 to Arthur & Martha (nee Thompson) Cook in London, England. Thelma immigrated to Canada from England in 1956. She worked at the Calgary Stockyards and Toole Peet Insurance, where she retired from in 1998. Her love of gardening, her cats, and curling up with a good book will always be remembered.
She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her children and their families, Alison, Paul & Pina Smith, her grandchildren, Chelsi, Kristin, and Aaron, Great-grandchildren, Quinn, and Weston. She is survived her brother Ray Cook (Arletta), and predeceased by brothers Peter, Gerald, and Arthur.
Thelma was predeceased by Leo and her son, David. She will be reunited with them during a private family interment at Queen’s Park Cemetery (3219 4th Street NW, Calgary, AB).
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 8th at 2:00 P.M. at Foster’s Garden Chapel (3220 - 4th Street NW, Calgary AB). Refreshments to follow after the ceremony.
