He is survived by his elder son Jeff (Annie), daughters Char (Rusty) and Pam (Gunnar) and grandsons Kalen, Kiefer (Brett) and Ben. He was predeceased by his wife Greta, his son Brad and his sister Gwyn.
Trevor was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 24, 1928 to Welsh parents who had immigrated to Canada from Abergavenny and Nantyglo in 1924. He moved out west in his teens with his good friend Stan Watts to work with show jumping horses and it was in Lethbridge that he met the love of his life, Greta Lenning. Trevor and Greta married in 1953 and moved Calgary to start their life together.
Trevor was a kind and generous man, very social and hugely popular. He was always ready to help out within the community and neighbourhood. He adored his family and loved being involved in his children’s lives, ferrying them to all their sports and activities – hockey, baseball, soccer, figure skating, skiing – as well as encouraging them with their studies. He was immensely proud of all their achievements. He had an excellent knowledge and appreciation for the English language, reading a great deal and always keen to keep up with current affairs. Happiest in the hub and bustle of family life, Trevor had a fine voice and loved to sing old country songs. We have many fond memories of having fun singing songs around the fire surrounded by friends and family.
In the early 1980s Trevor and Greta, along with one of Greta’s sisters, Dar and her husband Jack set up and ran TJ’s Pizza by the Hoodoos in the Columbia Valley. It was an extremely successful venture and was hugely popular throughout the valley.
Trevor had a wonderful, full life. He was a fit and healthy man, living independently until his last few years, when he was cared for so devotedly by his daughters Char and Pam. We know that he is now back beside his beloved Greta who has been waiting 12 years for him. It was an honour to know him and he will be greatly missed.
We would like to thank the 56 Unit at The Rocky View Hospital where the staff took very good care of Trevor during his last few weeks.
Cremation was in care of Foster’s Garden Chapel.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Trevor in the summer of 2025 where together we will raise a glass with affection in his memory.
