It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing away of our dear husband and father, Vir Karan, on Monday, August 25, 2014 at the age of 60 years.
Karan was born in Karnal, India. After receiving his bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, India, his further studies brought him to Canada where he did his Masters in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Hydrology at the University of Waterloo. He worked diligently as a Professional Engineer for Environment Canada in Calgary for thirty-three years. Religion and spirituality was the cornerstone of Vir Karan’s beliefs. He devoted much of his time to the Hindu Society of Calgary as a member. He also served as the principal of the Hindu Vidyalaya (Hindi School) for many years. His own motto of LRT – Love, Respect and Trust will be practiced and passed on by his beloved wife, Rita, and two dear sons, Amreesh and Vikas and daughters-in-law, Anuja and Amy. He is also survived by many dear close family members in Canada, USA, UK and India. Vir Karan will always be remembered for his smile and great sense of humour. He was full of life, love and laughter. He was also a great singer and dancer, rare traits for an engineer.
