Virgin "Vera" Nasri

Virgin “Vera” Nasri passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 in Calgary, AB at the age of 84 years. Vera was born in Northern Iraq in a small town called Sinjar on December 26, 1931. She had three brothers and three sisters, and was the third child after two boys. Vera married Saeed Jirjis in 1949. They had four children, two boys and two girls. Her husband died in 1995. Vera immigrated to Canada in 1998 and lived happily in her own home in Calgary until her passing. She loved life and dedicated her entire life to her family. Vera was an amazing mother and housewife. She also loved to cook and garden. Vera is lovingly remembered by her four children, Nadia, George, Niran and Paul Jirjis; six grandchildren, Vera, Jason, Daniel, Matthew, Suzanne and Bashar; one great-grandchild, Aurélia; three sisters, Harbia, Marie and Samera; as well as one brother, Saeed. A Visitation will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at OUR LADY OF PEACE MARONITE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 504 – 30 Avenue N.W., Calgary, on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
