Mrs. Virginia Marie Nielsen

1918 - 2007

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Virginia on June 29, 2007 at the age of 88 years. Virginia is survived by her son, James (Linda), daughter, Ellen (Lawrence), and son Keith (Sharon). Also survived by her sisters Gladys (George), and Shirley (Robert); six grandchildren, Heather (Rob), David (Nilupa), Jeffrey, Bonnie (Neil), Kristel, and Danny, and five great grandchildren. She will miss the joy of welcoming a new great grandchild to be born in July. Virginia is predeceased by her husband Tony; parents, Guy and Mina Jackson; and sister Hazel.

Virginia was a teacher of Kindergarten, Grade 1 and 2 with the Calgary Board of Education for over 20 years. She will be remembered as a warm and accepting mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She traveled extensively in her retirement years and attended many cultural events with her good friend Norma Meldrum. Virginia possessed a wonderful sense of humour, which helped her to cope successfully with life’s many challenges. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family is most grateful for the wonderful care Virginia received from the compassionate staff at the Foothills Hospital.

A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. with interment at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
