He was born on October 5, 1943 in Trail, British Columbia, and was predeceased by his parents Bunny and Irene Dame. Wayne is survived by his loving and devoted wife Diane (nee McAdam); daughters Candace (Jonathan Peters) and Ashley (Craig Johnson); step children Amanda (Pascal Dishaw) and Nicholas Pangborn; and grandsons Jack, Myles, William and Julien.
At the age of two, Wayne and his family moved to Calgary where he went to school and lived for most of his life. Wayne had many hobbies including flying his own plane, owning racehorses, and working tirelessly on his golf game. He could often be found playing in billiard leagues around Calgary, usually on the winning team. Throughout his lifetime Wayne lived in many places across Alberta and British Columbia and had a variety of careers from selling life insurance and beer, to working as a linesman in rural Alberta, and ultimately ending his career in Calgary in the printing industry. Everywhere Wayne went he made many friends and fostered lifelong relationships. He was a quality man with very high standards. He was a loyal and devoted husband, father, poppa, and friend to all. To quote an email from a few of his friends “Wayne was a rare and unusual character who won friends effortlessly. Wayne had strong perseverance and determination, and was never one to feel sorry for himself as that was not an option for Wayne. He was a true and reliable friend in the highest order, with an amazing sense of humor which never left him despite his health issues. We will miss him.”
At Wayne’s request there will not be a funeral. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Wayne’s Celebration of Life party currently being planned. Please email [email protected] for further information. Flowers are respectfully declined.
