Wilfred Godfrey passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the age of 88 years. Wilf was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan son of Horace and Irene Godfrey. He was married to Dorothy Godfrey (nee Lake) on April 28, 1951 in Saskatoon. They moved shortly thereafter to Calgary when Wilf was traded from the Saskatchewan Roughriders to the Calgary Stampeders. The newlyweds built their own home and raised a family at 2004 - 48th Avenue S.W., in a new neighborhood of lifelong friends. Wilfred worked off-season with Maclin Ford during his tenure with the Stampeders and then full time as general sales manager for 35 years. He was a well-respected figure in the business and athletic community, serving an extended tenure as president of the Southwest Athletic Association (SWAA) and was a swim instructor and long-time member of the YMCA. Wilf Godfrey will long be remembered as a kind and gentle man of quiet dignity.

Wilfred was predeceased by his wife Dorothy in 2012, brother Les (Catherine) in 2008 and daughter Karen (Doug) Wellis in 1995. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of Carewest Signal Hill for their loving support.
