

Bill passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital on August 10, 2005 at the age of 76 years. Bill is survived by his loving wife Bernice; two sons Tom (Tracy), Tim (Denise); one daughter Tammy (Shawn); seven grandchildren Janine, Natasha, Kyle, Ryan, Michelle, Madison and Jacob. He is also survived by his brother Everet Gillespie of P.E.I. Bill was predeceased by his brother Howard.
Bill was born in Clyde River, P.E.I. At the age of 15, he ventured west to Alberta in search of a better life. On arrival, he worked numerous jobs including ranch hand for Stringer Ranch's and transport driver for Arts Transport. Saving enough money to earn an automotive trade at S.A.I.T., he finally settled in Bowness where he owned and operated the Bowness Shell Service Station until his retirement. Bill was quite active within the community, leading the Boy Scout 42 Troup and the Bowness Jr. Chamber of Commerce. Bill was also an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 238.
The family would like to thank Bill’s caregivers at Unit 62 of the Foothills Hospital.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at visitation at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Monday, August 15, 2005 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. with interment to follow at Drumheller Cemetery.
