Bill Thompson of Calgary passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the age of 97 years after a brief battle with congestive heart failure.
Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife Grace in September, 2008. Grace suffered a severe stroke in 2000 and Bill showed his true love, dedication and character to Grace in caring for her until her death in 2008.
Bill is survived by three sons, Ross, Bill (Fay) and Grant. He was born in Winnipeg in 1915 and served 6 years in the RCAF in WWII. Bill worked as a landman in the land department of Imperial Oil from 1952 to 1976, (24 years), and collected an IOL pension from 1976 to the present, (36 years).
Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Mayfair Care Centre who played an important role in Bill’s life from November 2009 to the present. Also thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Cardiac Unit No. 81 at Foothills Medical Centre who cared for Bill in his last days during December 2012.
Bill wished to be cremated and a gathering will be held at a future date, probably in the spring.
