

Nonie Zelmer passed away peacefully at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary, AB on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the age of 89 years. Born and raised in Calgary, she was the founder of the Native Calgarian Society. Nonie dedicated her life to serving through organizations like the Alberta Rose Society, Boy Scouts and Girl Guides of Canada. She made many friendships and will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. Nonie is lovingly remembered by her children, Lynn (Amy) Zelmer, Karan Riches, Helene (Dan) Ramsay, and Aaron (Lynn) Zelmer; grandchildren Jennifer, Wendy, Julie, Jared, Suzanne and Cindy; great grandchildren Alexandra, Natasha, Tristan, Brendan, Madeleine and James. She is also remembered by her step daughter Claire Gillam and her very special friend and companion Cathy Mantika. Nonie was predeceased by her husband Hubert Adam Zelmer and second husband Donald Leed Foster. A Celebration of Life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society, 200, 325 Manning Road N.E.
