July 9, 1930 – January 17, 2020
Wolfgang Such passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the age of 89 years. Born in July of 1930 to Rudolf and Emma Such, Wolfgang spent most of his formative years in Essen, Germany. He arrived in Canada April 1954, married the love of his life, Lydia in November of 1955, and together they would raise a family and build their lives. With Lydia’s support, they built a successful property management business. Wolfgang was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, and in 1971, started his own private exotic and wild game farm -- pioneering commercial game ranching in Alberta.
He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his children and their families, Barbara and Gerry Patychuk, Raymond Such, Robert Such and Gudrun Schulze Ebbinghoff; and his grandchildren, Bronson, Michael and Brett Patychuk, Riaan, Stefan, Liana and Téa Such.
Wolfgang was predeceased by his wife Lydia in 2017; they will be reunited at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 2:00 pm. Reverend Michael Wellman presiding.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Bowcrest Care Centre for their compassionate care.
