You Ming Wang

It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of You Ming Wang (汪有明) on Friday, January 22, 2021 at the Foothills Medical Center, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, following a very brief illness. She is lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her son Max Wang (Jane Song) and two daughters, Changlin Wang (Minghua Pan) and Connie Wang (Ming Li), many grand and great grand children, as well as many more relatives and friends.

You Ming was born in Tongcheng County, Anhui Province of China (安徽省，桐城县) on March 22, 1938, and moved to Feixi County (肥西县) of the same province and married Gongyi Wei (卫功義) at the age of 18; lived her adult life in the same remote countryside till 1995 when she moved to Calgary, Canada. She overcame unimaginable hardships and challenges to raise the family. Although she had not received any schooling, her unyielding determination to provide her children with education, no matter how hard her life was, has truly transformed the family. You Ming was genuinely kind and warm hearted, and ready to help anyone in need.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions at this time, a very limited-scale celebration of You Ming’s extraordinary life will be held at the Foster’s Garden Chapel Funeral Home, and she will be laid to rest at the Queen’s Park Cemetery thereafter.
