Fred will be missed by his wife Marla of 68 years, and his children David (Robin) and Glen, grandsons Jonathan (Melissa) and Jason (Jenna), and his great-grandchildren Nolan, Hayley, Ethan, Colby and Eric. He will also be missed by his sister Beryl (Harv), sister-in-law Jeannine, sister-in-law Jeanette and large extended family. He is predeceased by his father Fred Sr. (1992) and his mother Irene (2001), sister Janice (2018), and brother Paul (2022).
Fred was born in 1936 in Preston, and became involved in the Preston Scout House band. Later in life be rejoined the Preston Scout House Alumni. His love for music endured through his life.
In his working years, Fred worked in many local industries before beginning a long career with the Waterloo County School Board in the maintenance department. In retirement, Fred showcased his gardening skills with a beautifully landscaped home, that was the envy of many neighbors.
The Funeral will be held at the Barthel Funeral Home (566 Queenston Road in Cambridge) on Monday May 5, with visitation starting at 10 am and the service following at 11 am.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Cambridge Memorial Hospital for their care, and to the staff at Granite Landing for their kind and warm welcome afforded Fred and Marla.
