Gary Cable, born in Cambridge, passed away peacefully at the age of 61 on Friday, November 3rd, 2023, at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret, their two children, Tory (Trish) and Madison (Mark) and soon-to-arrive grandson.
Predeceased by his father, Bill, and lovingly remembered by his mother, Debbie, his siblings David (Bernice), Donald (Susan), Susan (James) and Debbie (Mike), his in-laws, Neil (Theresa), Anne (Ian) and Graham (Mel), as well as his many nieces, nephews, and a large circle of friends.
Family meant everything to Gary.
He lovingly joked with and teased his nieces and nephews, memories that are held close to all of their hearts. He gathered his loved ones with the smell of homemade recipes, which were made with love for those who enjoyed. The numerous celebrations were always cherished by him and the time spent with family and friends were truly his favourite moments.
Anyone who knew Gary understood his immense love for sports and music. From playing Sunday morning hockey or baseball with the Branson’s team, to watching the Leafs, Blue Jays, and TFC. His enthusiasm and competitive spirit were passed down to his children, whom he coached and cheered for throughout the years. Later in life, golf became his passion as he enjoyed multiple rounds each week, striving to outplay his friends. Music was just as important to him, from endless nights dancing to the 80’s, to monopolizing playlists for hours and hours with family & friends. He may never have found his rhythm on the dance floor, but always found a way to get everybody up and join in on the fun.
He will also be remembered by his colleagues at the Waterloo Region District School Board and the members of the William G. Davis staff.
As a family, we want to thank everybody for their outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. It truly emphasizes how his warmth and kindness radiated to all who knew him.
No formal visitation or funeral will be held. Gary’s wishes were for a party to be thrown in his honour. Details to follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Cambridge Humane Society.
