Born July 25, 1923 in Preston, Ontario, he was the son of the late Thomas and Jessie McCutcheon (nee Shultis). Raised on a farm, he was used to hard work and was an Auto Body Man for most of his working life. He enjoyed working on cars, boats and motors, fishing in the stream near his childhood home, and hunting for moose and deer in his later years. He was a charming and sociable man who loved to talk to everyone, and was a caring family man as well. Church was a very important part of his life and he was a member of Acton Baptist Church, then King Street Baptist Church. Lyal was predeceased by his wife of 47 years Helen (nee West). He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his four children, Heather (Alex) Fox, Carol McCutcheon, Howard (Lynda) McCutcheon, and Barbara Vann; grandchildren Robert (Christine) Parsons, Kim Parsons, Candace and Catheryne McCutcheon, Nathaniel (Samantha) McCutcheon, Aaron and Nick Vann; and great-grandchildren Helen and Maggie Parsons and Sierra McCutcheon. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 15th from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at King Street Baptist Church (361 King St., Cambridge) with a Funeral Service to begin at 12:00 pm. A reception will follow in the church hall. Interment in Rockwood Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the King St. Baptist Church.
