

Rita was predeceased by her loving husband James (Kevin) Frizzell. Also predeceased by her parents John Joseph Butler and Mary Josephine Hammond (nee Lawlor); step-father Peter Hammond; sister Margaret (Peter) Fitzgerald; and brothers Stephen (Nell) Butler and Richard Butler.
Survived by her brothers Thomas (Brenda) Butler and Bernard (Maxine) Butler; and sisters Anne (Harold) Lee and Ursula (Larry) Soroka. Also survived by her step-siblings (Hammonds): John (Marg), Bridgett (Rhodey), Marg (Fred), Marie (Arnold), Bob (Joan), Revlyn (Donna) and Charles (Carol).
Devoted mother to Raymond (Patrice), Ursula (Paul), Millie, Carol Ann (Paul), and Eileen (Matt).
Beloved grandmother to Tammy, Jason (Johanna), Melody (Brian), Shannon (Josh), Tina, Christopher, Dana (Stephen) and Rikki (Kyla).
Adored great-grandmother to Ethan, Makaylah, Gabriella, Savannah, Meghan, Alyxianna, Chelsea, Grayson and Kataleyah.
Rita was born on December 1st, 1935 on Bell Island, Newfoundland. Rita and Kevin left St. John's Newfoundland in 1976 for Cambridge Ontario with their five children. Rita loved family get-togethers and cooking, whether it was a small affair or a large one. She loved playing cards with her siblings and step-siblings, and going to the casino, out for lunch, or shopping.

A funeral mass for Rita will be held Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Clement's Church, 745 Duke St, Cambridge, ON N3H 1S3. A burial of ashes will follow at Parklawn Cemetery, 750 Fountain St N, Cambridge, ON N3H 4R7. Friends and family are then invited to attend a reception afterwards, at St. Clement's Church.
