William Leonard Klaassen

On the 29th of December 2025, at the age of 95, William Leonard Klaassen passed away peacefully in Cambridge Memorial Hospital with family at his side. He was a kind and caring husband to Marilyn (nee Smith) for 38 years. Bill will be greatly missed by Marilyn and their blended family, including children Bruce (Peco Ngai), Gary (Joan), Terry (Tina), Tracey (Craig), daughter-in-law Mary, grandchildren Derek (Nena), Andrew (Chantel), Alan (Joanie), Sandra (Everett), and great-grandchildren Felix, Gavin, Kennedy and Landon.

Bill was born in Preston to parents Albert and Ada (nee Grimditch). He took over the family electrical contracting business in the 1950's and was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 72 years, serving as a Grand Master of the Preston Lodge in 1957. Bill was predeceased by his first wife Jeanie in 1986, a renowned water colour artist, and also predeceased by brothers Peter, Frank and Albert and sister Jean (Mocklencate).

Honouring Bill's wishes, no funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
