Audrey was born in Kilburn, NB and was a long-term resident of Campbellton, NB. She was the daughter of the late Leigh and Elsie (Gaudin) Grant. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Walsh, her infant son Patrick, her great-granddaughter Audrey Hope Hunter and her siblings Robert Grant, Fred Grant, Linda Finnamore and Elizabeth McHugh. She is survived by her siblings Marion Weaver, Dorothy DeMerchant, Keith Grant, Joan Good, Gary Grant (Margaret Grant), her brother-in-law Dennis Finnamore and many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by and will be dearly missed by her four children Bonnie Walsh, Scott Walsh (Stacy McRae), Kathy Walsh-Lefurgey (David Lefurgey) and John Walsh (Sue Marcantonio) as well as her best friend, Edith Leet Arsenault. The greatest joys of her life were her five grandchildren Shannon Hunter (Peter Hunter), Aysleigh Lefurgey (Mike Miller), Will Walsh (Alyssa LeBlanc), Mayme Lefurgey (Rob Burroughs), Andrea Walsh and her two great-grandchildren Ava and Elle Hunter.
Audrey loved walking, curling, golfing, cross-country skiing, playing bridge and quilting. She loved to read in the sunlight of her front window with her dog Abbey, where she would wave to the neighbourhood children on their walk to school and admire the Sugarloaf Mountain. She was a beautiful seamstress, a member of the CWL and the Campbellton Nursing Home Village Auxiliary.
Audrey had an easy-going nature, a keen sense of humour and lived a joyful and full life. She was independent, thoughtful and the best secret-keeper. She lived life in a gentle but fierce way— offering acts of kindness and compassion to kin and strangers alike. She was a beloved cook and was always eager to add another seat at the dinner table. Many of her dishes will surely be passed on for generations.
Audrey will be remembered for her quick wit, her kindness and her tiny but grand hugs. To our Mum, Nanny, and friend, knowing and loving you has been our greatest honour. Saying goodbye is so hard and we miss you already.
Audrey’s family would also like to sincerely thank the staff of the Campbellton Regional Hospital for the excellent care during the past few weeks.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Maher’s Funeral Chapel located at 64 Lansdowne St. in Campbellton, N.B. on Saturday July 13, 2019. There will be a visitation at 12:30 pm followed by a celebration of life service at 2:00 pm.
