Born on June 24th,1927 in Atholville, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late Sherman and Edna (Boudreau) Lefurgey and beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Taylor) Lefurgey.
Lorne will be lovingly remembered and truly missed by his family, Mark (Louise) of Grand Prairie, Alberta, Heather (Dave) Downs, of Campbellton N.B., Kim (Doug) Waugh of Fredericton N.B., Hayley Lefurgey of Atholville N.B.; his cherished grandchildren, Morgan Downs of Fredericton N.B., Alexa Downs of Saint John N.B., Emily (Ben) Mclean of Fredericton N.B., Megan (Andrew) Laybolt of Fredericton N.B., Zachary (Kathleen) Lefurgey of Fredericton N.B., Jonah Lefurgey of Campbellton N.B.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Elizabeth and his parents, Lorne was predeceased by his son Gregory Lefurgey, sisters Hilda, Ruth, Mabel, Helen, Margaret and brother Murray.
Lorne was a stationary engineer at Frasers Pulp Mill in Atholville retiring after 40 years of service. He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge for over 60 years until his death. His favorite activities included enjoying nature and his daily walks at Sugarloaf Park where he always loved meeting people and taking the time to have a friendly chat. You would often find him watching the Toronto Blue Jays or Maple Leafs games, and he had hoped that the Leafs would win the Stanley Cup again in his lifetime. He always enjoyed visits from his grandchildren whom he held very dear to his heart.
Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 at Anglican Christ Church in Campbellton on Friday, September 20th followed by a funeral service at 11:00, with a reception to follow.
