My deepest condolences to the family. It's difficult to think of Flatlands without thinking of Ronald and Alma Irvine, such beautiful people. Gone but definitely not forgotten. R.I.P Alma.

So sorry to hear this. I have many nice memories of Alma from growing up in Flatlands; she was very kind to me.

So wish I could be there to support everyone.  Alma will always have a special place in my heart.

From as far back as I can remember, Alma was always such a huge part of the Flatlands I grew up in.  As Susan's best friend, she was a part of my life in a personal way, but looking back now, I realize how much she meant to so many.  It was known as "Irvine's" but to all of us, it was "Alma's" store.  I don't remember her ever being annoyed and she must have been at times especially with us kids who would go in and spend all of anywhere from 5 cents to 25 cents.  She would always get down those huge glass jars of candy when all we wanted was one of those and another one of that one!!  I don't have any memory of her without that huge welcoming smile and her ability to "crack her gum"!!  I so envied how she could do that!!  I don't think it matters how old you are when you loose your mother, maybe it is even harder the older you are because she has always been there and no other person will ever love you the way your Mom does.  So, Gayle, Ona, Kerry and Susan, please know that all who knew her loved her.  She was such a precious woman and I, for one, will never forget her.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
