Caroll Ann Basque

It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. Caroll Ann Basque (Carol Munn) of Listuguj. She passed away at the Waqatasg Elder’s Home in Listuguj on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at the age of 72.

Caroll was born on April 7, 1952 in Montreal, QC to the late Robert Ivan Basque and Mary Elizabeth Dedam.

Caroll is survived by her only daughter Summer Lee Cullen (Basque) and her husband Jon Cullen; her siblings Sheila Richarz, sheila’s husband Jon Richarz, Shar-Ron Basque and Robin Joly; her grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Michael (Bear) Emersen and Indy, And numerous nieces and nephews.

Caroll lived a fun eventful life, spending most of her time between Listuguj reservation in Canada and Northern Maine towns of Millinocket and Lincoln. One of her proudest moments was graduating from Stearns high school in Millinocket in 1970. Caroll was a character, always with a distinctive laugh and smile. Caroll loved being a free spirit and not taking life too seriously. She was also a fighter, having survived a horrific car accident in her early thirties, and battling cancer over the past ten years, she was a proud friend of Bill W. (AA) Caroll will be greatly missed by many friends and family.

A funeral service for Caroll will be held at the Listuguj Chapel on Thursday, April 3 at 3:00pm with visitations starting at 2:00pm.
