

Passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at the Campbellton Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the age of 72, Mr. Douglas Murray of Upsalquitch, husband of Marilyn (Firth) Murray.
Douglas was born on May 9, 1953, in Campbellton, NB , to the late Burpee and Grace Murray of Upsalquitch.
Douglas worked as a fishing guide on the Upsalquitch, Restigouche, and Kedgwick River Systems for over 40 years until his stroke in 2016 at the age of 63. He was an avid Rivermen all of his life, as well as a Woodsmen when he was not on the river. He loved being surrounded by friends and family, talking to anyone, farming, snowmobiling, old country music, volunteering as a firemen, and volunteering in various other community events.
Besides his wife Marilyn, he is survived by his daughter Grace (Vaughn) Firth of Flatlands, his son Ernest (Tanya) Murray of Upsalquitch, and his youngest son Wilson (Sherry) Murray of Upsalquitch. He is also survived by his eight Grandchildren; Connor, Sarah, Emily, Emmitt, Alexa, Sybil, Grayson, and Viktor, that he so dearly loved and who put a twinkle in his eye every time they visited. He is also survived by his sister Marjorie (Albert) Nicolle and his brother David Murray, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two grandsons, Arthur and Joseph “Little Joe” Murray.
A Funeral Service for Douglas will be held at St. David’s United Church in Upsalquitch, on the banks of his most treasured river and in the heart of his dearly loved Upsalquitch Community, on Thursday, August 21, at 2:00 pm.
The family will welcome family and friends at Maher's Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne St in Campbellton on Wednesday from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. David’s United Church in Upsalquitch.
Pallbearers: Ernest Murray, Wilson Murray, Vaughn Firth, Connor Firth, Allen Firth, and Roger Mann.
Honorary Pallbearers: Marilyn Boudreau, Sara (Sue) Mann, Blaine Mann, Shane Mann, David Mann, Walton Falle, Albert Nicolle, Brent Nicolle and Uncle Allen Cooling.
