Emilia Smith

Born in Charlo on June 22, 1927, daughter of the late Melvin McNeil and of the late Ethel (Hickey) McNeil.

She worked in the retail business until her retirement. She was an avid Bingo player, and loved to knit, once having knitted 107 pairs of socks and mittens for under privileged children.

She is survived by her son Richard Smith (Sandra) of Cross Point Quebec, her daughters Diane (Tommy) Gallant of Campbellton, Eileen Gallant (Ron) of Moncton, Anne Gamble (Peter) of Nouvelle, Quebec Joan Gallant (Julien) of Cross Point, Quebec, Patricia Smith of Campbellton, her sister Mabel Carrier (Gabriel) of Charlo; 7 grandsons: Tommy, Shawn, David, Corey, Jason, Neil and Ryan, 7 granddaughters: Michelle, Julie, Nathalie, Donna, Amanda, Carol and Melissa; 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great- grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband the late Maurice Smith, her two daughter’s Brenda Smith and Louise (Smith) Doucet, her brother Nelson McNeil, her sister Lillian Carrier and great-grandson Connor.

Funeral Service will be held at Maher’s Funeral Chapel, 64 Lansdowne St. Campbellton on Wednesday March 3, at 2pm with visitation from 12:30 pm until time of the service at the Chapel.

The family would like to thank the Campbellton Village Nursing Home and their staff for the wonderful care of our precious mother.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Restigouche county S.P.C.A.
